“Eating bugs was originally planned to be pretty grody and personal in a Nickelodeon/fifth grade boy/gross-
out way, but we were always skeptical of this idea, both for its fringe appeal and its modal interruption of play
flow, so in the end we went with something very simple and abstract. There are a few more brainstorms on [Fig-
ure 16-15 ] about using the vibration to signal that a bug is in your web or spinning your finger on the screen
to spin bugs into cocoons, but many of these wound up being cut because they were peripheral to the central
experience.”
