ZHAN (SLIGHTLY SURPRISED)
I was rescued by Ped Xingh, Warlord of the Shadow Clan.
The sea raiders had arrived to scavenge the battle site. They hauled me from the
water and had just put a knife to my throat when Xingh made his entrance. He
stopped their knives with just a gesture.
ZHAN (MILDY SARCASTIC)
I appreciated his timing.
A mysterious - but lovely - woman appeared at his side, murmuring in his ear.
Xingh turned, examined me for a long moment, and then offered me his hand.
ZHAN (RESIGNED AND CYNICAL)
Did I really have a choice? I took it.
And so began my career as a sea raider of the Shadow Clan.
I owe these people my life, and I am grateful, but I've also got a score to settle.
And I swear on our dead mother's talisman that I will find out what my brother
is doing ... and why he wanted me so very dead.
ZHAN (SOUNDING COCKY)
But for now, I'll play pirate. After all, how hard can it be?

ZHAN (A BIT ADMIRINGLY)
A local named Achmed's been showing me around, telling me about old man
Xingh and the Shadow Clan raiders. These people make their living by pirating
local shipping, especially that of Iriyan, the Jade Kingdom, to the west.
They live hard but well, and their boats are armed to the teeth, designed for
pure speed and maneuverability
ZHAN (COCKY AGAIN)
I could get to like it here.
