6.6 Summary
This chapter examined the parts of games impacting directly on players:
user interface and interaction with the game environment. From a design
point of view, user interfaces borrow many principles from the domain of
graphic art. What looks good and how someone perceives visual elements
in two dimensions have been studied and disseminated in art and visual
communication long before computer games, and these realms hold much
valuable knowledge that we can transform into digital interfaces.
